I (Leigha) was away last week for a wonderful trip to snowy Vermont, where a bottle of this Cab Franc would have come in handy! We had snow for three days in a row and skii’d two out of three of them at Stowe and then Bolton Valley.
Vermont was a slight departure from wine for me, Beer was on the menu every night with amazing small breweries making phenomenal Craft beers only available on draft up there! If you ever make the trip, head to Hill Farmstead Brewery in Greensboro, Vermont and then stop in to Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier for a few pints and some awesome Vermont Cheese. For our last night, we stopped in at Cork, a fabulous new wine bar in Waterbury and had dinner and wine with the itinerant restaurateurs Misery Loves Co., a pop-up restaurant featuring James Beard nominated chefs, an ever-changing menu and inspired wine selections.
Ray is up in Vermont now, hopefully enjoying it as much as we did, eating, drinking and skiing while we’re here in 60+ degree weather! But, despite the fact that Winter may have come and gone down here in the South, this Cab Franc will be perfect for the slightly cooler evening chill! So, pull on that sweater and head to the porch with bottle in hand. Winter is a wonderland, for sure…
