This Blend of Syrah, Carignane & Valdiguie is easily as European as it sounds, but with that core of Napa fruit that makes it wildly enjoyable rather than just “interesting!” Sam Spencer and Wendy Rolosan are dedicated to the grapes of the Rhone Valley and Spain and attempt to create wines that reflect their heritage, not the typical lineup coming out of the Napa Valley, but they demonstrate the breadth and versatility of their vineyard sites. “Palaterra” is modeled on the rich wines of the Southern Rhone, Provence and the Languedoc. All vines are grown in cobbly soils and dry farmed. The vines are micro-yielding which basically means the vineyard will produce fruit that is intensely colorful, creating a dark, fruit forward and inviting glass of wine.
