While not RATED X, this red blend is certainly fleshy and voluptuous, showing more than you would expect for under $15 a bottle. Reed Renaudin started X Winery as an MBA business plan in grad school at Cal Poly-San Obispo with the main thesis or goal “to create wines with an outstanding value proposition for consumers…through strategic partnerships and relationships with some of Napa’s most regarded growers…” Even Robert Parker gushed about X Winery,”The most obvious question with respect to X Winery and proprietor Reed Renaudin is how can these wines be this good at these prices? Everyone is looking for good values today, and here are some exceptional bargains.” -The Wine Advocate
Needless to say X Winery is certainly one to watch and experience as often as you can!

“The 2008 Red X, which is a North Coast blend of Syrah (55%), Tempranillo (23%) and the rest Grenache and other grapes, displays a Cotes du Rhone-like herbal, cherry and peppery bouquet with some blacker fruits in the mouth. A delicious quaffing red with no hard edges, an attractive texture and lovely fruit, it can be drunk over the next 1-2 years.” – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

2008 X Winery, Truchard Vineyard, Pinot Noir

Truchard Pinot Noir has always been a favorite of mine… “Sexy & Seductive”

“An impressive offering in the over-priced Pinot Noir sweepstakes is the 2008 Pinot Noir Truchard Vineyard. A heck of a wine for the price, it reveals sexy notes of pomegranate, plum, cherry, and strawberry fruit intermixed with forest floor and earth. There is not a hard edge to be found in this soft, round, seductive, medium-bodied Pinot Noir. Enjoy it over the next several years.” – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

2009 X Winery, Sangiacomo + Truchard Vineyard, Chardonnay

Sangiacomo Vineyard was made famous by Tandem (which has since changed names to Lafollete) with most bottlings going for $10-15 more a bottle…

“Other good values include the excellent 2009 Chardonnay Carneros, which comes from two top-flight vineyards, Truchard and Sangiacomo, that sells for a song. It is a serious Chardonnay offering notes of tropical fruits, buttered citrus and spice. Medium-bodied and tasty, it is ideal for drinking over the next year. ” – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

2008 X Winery, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

Looking for a Cabernet that is both dry and full of fruit? Look no further, X Winery’s Napa Cab will be just the right mix….

“A little direct, but nicely dry, and offering a rich mouthful of blackberries, black currants and cola. Best now and for a few years.” – Steve Heimoff, Wine Enthusiast
